Mr. McCarthy was born in the city of Chicago, Illinois, May 2, 1954. He was admitted to the Texas bar in 1981, and the Illinois bar in 1984; United States Supreme Court, United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth, Seventh and Federal Circuits; United States District Courts for the Southern District of Texas and Northern District of Illinois, Trial Bar. Mr. McCarthy is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His education is from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, 1976; and from the University of Houston Law School with a J.D. in 1981. He was Articles Editor, for the Houston Law Review and a member of the Interscholastic Mock Trial Team. Mr. McCarthy is a recipient of the Fulbright & Jaworski Award and the Butler, Binion, Rice, Cook & Knapp Award. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, American Bar Association, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Mr. McCarthy’s areas of concentration includes obtaining, enforcing, licensing, counseling and defending the intellectual property rights afforded by Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights and Trade Secrets.
